Apple Releases DNS Security Patch

August 1, 2008

Apple released Security Update 2008-005, fixing a DNS exploit others began work on nearly a month ago. With an increase in reported instances of malware and trojan horses targeting OS X systems, Apple has lately been widely criticized for being slow to move on security vulnerabilities, especially with respect to the iPhone.

The DNS fix is among 13 items updated in yesterday’s security release, which is available through Software Update and at Apple’s web site.
