Removing personal info from computers and cell phones

Postby CamHiggins » Tue Aug 29, 2017 10:14 pm

I am planning to recycle some older computers and cell phones and am looking for aps or programs or procedures that will simplify deleting info deeply imbedded in the internal structure of electronic devices.

I was surp5ised that there was no response to this question. I finally did some more searching on my own, and found the following link that seems to offer a good solution.

How to Wipe the Hard Drive of a Windows Computer: Geek Squad – Best Buy

This solution suggests software that completely cleans off the hard drive, and further offer options to recycle thru Best Buy. I'll try this one out and let you know if there are any problems.

This problem was ultimately resolved when I went to Best Buy and the Geek Squad said their solution was, not to use the Best Buy option, but to remove the hard drive and to BREAK it in front of the donor , if desired, and to dismantle the balance of the PC for recycling.
